The O-Tones trio celebrate Sturbridge 100th anniversary

The O-Tones trio celebrate Sturbridge 100th anniversary in the summer of 2022. With a mix of a few tunes from 1922 (100 years) plus other songs of various styles: Swing, Blues, Soul, Latin and Motown, these musicians will help Sturbridge celebrate this centennial. Mary Witt (sultry vocals & bass), John Caban (bluesy guitar & vocals) and Ben Kohn (grooving piano & vocals) love sharing the stage with songs from Marvin Gaye, Ella Fitzgerald, Smokey Robinson, Dinah Washington, The Temptations, and others.

The O-Tones duo at Summer on Strong play a fun mix of Swing, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Motown, Latin, and NOLA tunes. Mary Witt, soulful vocalist and bass player  loves grooving with Ben Kohn on vocals and swinging piano.

Including favorites from Ella Fitzgerald, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra, The Four Tops, California Honeydrops, Dinah Washington and more, the melodies and rhythms will inspire your choice of food from local restaurants on Strong Ave in Northampton.

Reservations at some restaurants are recommended for a table. Familiars, Eastside Grill, Local Burger, Homestead and more serve up some tasty bites and beverages. Music from 3 – 6 pm.

The O-Tones at Paradise City Arts Festival are ready for a grand time of music and art! Mary Witt, Ann Percival and Anand Nayak harmonize with soul and swing on Ella Fitzgerald to Marvin Gaye. with guitars and bass. Jeff Olmsted and Matt Steckler join them on piano and sax for a swinging groove and hot licks. This group loves playing for listening and dancing at this top notch craft and arts fair. This swinging, soulful group is excited about playing at the Berkshire Botanical Garden annual Harvest Festival! Join us on Sunday October 9 from 2 pm to 2:50 pm with Swing, Soul, Motown, Blues and more.

Making plans for two fabulous days of live music and entertainment, fresh local and artisan food and refreshments. Also a plant sale and farmer’s market, pony and hay rides, hay jump, haunted house, classes and workshops, regional vendors!

 

The 88th annual Harvest Festival, celebrating autumn in the beautiful Berkshires, is scheduled for both days, Oct. 8-9, 10-5 p.m.

The O-Tones play Halloween Swing at CitySpace Easthampton will be a swinging, fun-charged event! The band will deliver groove and harmony for listening and dancing. CitySpace is a non-profit arts center in Easthampton and The O-Tones are excited about helping to raise funds for the renovation of the beautiful 2nd floor performance space.

Mary Witt (vocals & bass), Ann Percival (vocals & rhythm guitar), John Cabán (lead guitar & vocals), Ben Kohn (piano & vocals), Jon Weeks (tenor sax), and Joe Fitzpatrick (drums) will bring their signature Swing, Blues, Soul and Motown music. Dear Ella trio at MICA event Northampton Center for the Arts

Dear Ella trio at MICA event Northampton Center for the Arts will be a fun event! Annie Patterson, Mary Witt , and Ann Percival are “Dear Ella”, a trio from Western Massachusetts whose repertoire includes songs from Jazz standards to Blues to Motown to folk favorites. The band’s name, inspired by Ella Fitzgerald, is a nod to the many women singers who have inspired them. Singing in harmony is something these three highly accomplished musicians have been doing their whole lives. Now, as “Dear Ella”, Ann, Mary & Annie bring their individual musicianship and talents together to form a dynamic trio. Come sing with them, dance to their songs, and enjoy their uplifting and beautiful harmonies with guitars, bass, drum and banjo.

MICA is The Mother Arts Festival is coming to Northampton Center for the Arts at 33 Hawley, in Northampton, MA, on October 28th, 29th, & 30th. This is the event you have been waiting for. These mothers are your friends, family, and colleagues, and not only do they kick ass at mothering, being there for you, and everything else, but they are artists to boot. Come celebrate them with three days of visual arts, theatre, dance, and music.

Tickets for Friday night only $25 including food and drink and music!

All three women in Dear Ella sing with The O-Tones:

Annie Patterson (vocals, guitar, banjo, & snare drum) co-created the world renowned songbook Rise Up Singing with her life partner Peter Blood. She sings with the swing band Girls From Mars and is a vocalist and rhythm instrumentalist with the Joni Mitchell tribute band, Big Yellow Taxi. She is a music educator, artist, and premiere song leader, and has led singing with communities around the world for over 3 decades.

Mary Witt (vocals & bass) is a critically acclaimed singer and bass player for the Swing and Motown band The O-Tones. She is also a music producer, painter, and art educator. Inspired by multi-discipline artists like Joni Mitchell, Mary enjoys the conversation between music and visual art. Her German parents, early activists and social justice advocates, exposed her to both all her life. Her passion for music and social justice shines through her work. https://theotones.com/

Ann Percival (guitar, piano, rhythm & vocals) is a member of the iconic contra dance band Wild Asparagus. She also sings and plays guitar with the New England Swing and Motown band, The O-Tones. She is an artist, visionary, and educator. Music is in her blood. Ann used to spend time with her Norwegian grandparents including trips to the local Sons of Norway hall where everyone danced to and played traditional music.
